A few days late. A few words short. With travel and work obligations taking up my time, instead of my usual episode re-cap, since we are already down to the Top Ten(!), I hope you will Grant me the right to just take stock and see where we are in the arc of this fast-moving season. It seems all of the girls – including Chloie, Bailey, and Alli Jo, who failed to get roses – are catching feelings for Grant, and Grant is catching his share of feelings for several girls.

I have Litia at the top of Grant’s list for now [cue The Spinners Could It Be I’m Falling in Love]. They seem to be comfortably connected.
Alexe also seems to be someone that he is very attracted to. Alexe represents opposing historical trends. In a Bachelor first, this season’s First Impression Rose (FIP) winner also got the first 1-on-1 date. The FIP has been the kiss of death as its winners rarely went far, and many didn’t even get a 1-on-1. But the girl who gets the first 1-on-1 does tend to last until late in the season. Maybe the FIP script gets flipped this season and Alexa will be with us for a while.
I don’t know how I feel about Carolina [cue Buddy Guy What Kind of Woman Is This]. The Evil Genius Producers (EGPs) signaled in Week 1 that she would be a significant character. And to this point in the season, she is DOMINATING the screen time – twice as much as the next two, Zoe and Litia.1
Grant seems to like her a lot, but is she the villain? She’s creating a lot of drama but doesn’t seem particularly villainous. She’s actually playing the character of the girl who can’t cope with her boyfriend’s other nine girlfriends, one of which is Rose, who set Carolina off by telling her that when she (Carolina) was lap dancing with Grant, Grant said he was thinking of her (Rose).
That didn’t sound anything like Grant would ever say, and indeed, Rose said that she must have misunderstood what Grant said. I’m really confused at how you could mishear something like that, but the EGPs seem more interested in Carolina’s rapidly devolving confidence than showing us the actual convo of Rose and Grant so that we can judge her for ourselves.
Zoe’s connection with Grant must be taken seriously, although drama seems to follow her, too. Perhaps she’s the villain? [cue The Clovers Devil or Angel] Her “Ima do what I want whens I want” attitude has certainly pushed a lot of buttons in the mansion.
Is there a dark horse? There’s always someone who lags in screen time early on and comes on strong later in the season. Juliana? Natalie?
Never Been Kissed: Parisa and Sarafiena.2 Yes, the EGP’s edits control what we see. But this still seems like a problem for them. We’re seeing him kiss everybody else. Why aren’t we seeing them get snogged?
Pretenders not Contenders: Rose and Dina.
See you next week.

P.S. Instead of Grant’s music, the EGP’s thankfully upgraded us to David Guetta (Man in Finance) and Lil John & The Eastside Boys (Get Low).
