30-Day Song Challenge Day 27 – A Song That Describes How You Feel Right Now

“I think there is a song out there to describe just about any situation.” (Criss Jami)

A friend and long-time loyal blog follower recently sent me a 30-Day Song Challenge meme in the hope that I couldn’t resist taking the challenge and blogging about it. Here’s Day #27 – A Song That Describes How You Feel Right Now: Sigala, Ella Eyre, Meghan Trainor, Just Got Paid ft. French Montana

Why does this song describe how I’m feeling? Well I see that a client paid me within 24 hours for the work I did for them this week. And when I checked the mail, my stimulus check was there. So yeah. Just got paid.

Hot cash aside – I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!! It’s such a happy, upbeat video. And there’s My Girl Ella Eyre singing and playing the lead role. She’s a British singer-songwriter[1] – and model – who I’ve been fangirling for years. Check out her videos for Comeback[2] (I LOVE THIS SONG AND VIDEO!!!!) and If I Go. These songs have a Motown-meets-the-new-millennium sound. If Berry Gordy had been starting Motown in this generation, I believe Ella would have been one of his biggest artists[3].[4]

Prepare to smile while I go count my money. 🙂

[1] Apart from her own music, she’s also a go to featured singer for UK dance-oriented acts like Sigala, Rudimental and Naughty Boy.

[2] Bad word alert!

[3] Motown under Gordy had a number of UK labels that distributed the music of his American artists. In my modern Motown fantasy, the visionary and relentless Gordy would have had a London-based division devoted to discovering and selling UK artists that fit the Motown brand. And Ella with her signature look, style and sound would have been one of his major artists. Also, I would be working there. 🙂

[4] Her cover of Justin Timberlake’s What Goes Around is great, too. I wish the video was live in studio. https://youtu.be/2j8I_eBpCzs
