A Tale of Two Connections

I spent Monday/Election Night pondering the state of our nation while pondering my Musings on Bachelor in Paradise. Not sure how I’m feeling about my life choices LOL.

This week on Paradise the girls had the roses and the power to elect who they wanted to represent them. The drama was in two swing races:

  • Would The Devil’s Mistress Kate pick Big Bank Dog Dude or Logan?
  • Would Eliza choose Everybody Loves Rodney or Second Time Around (cue Luther Vandross) Justin?

After wrestling with the question of whether she was in it for love or money, The Devil’s Mistress opted for love but not without a passive-aggressive without the passive demand that Logan needs to “step up” or something. Logan understandably was blindsided by a demand that seemed to come out of nowhere. They had been connecting and vibing without any need for him to submit financial disclosures for her CPA to peruse. But once she got wind of how much money Dog Dude spent on his dog, she naturally wondered how much more he would spend on her, apparently blind to the fact that nothing is as important to Dog Dude as his dog.

It is only a matter of time before the Kate/Logan mismatch comes apart as The Devil’s Mistress does not seem all that compatible with anybody other than the Devil. I await to see how it all unravels.

As to Eliza, it was easy to see that her re-electing the incumbent Rodney was going to trigger a massive amount of buyer’s remorse. It was easy because the Evil Genius Producers (EGPs) kept giving us confident pronouncements about their relationship from Rodney and Everybody Who Loves Rodney but none from Eliza. This was a love triangle that ended badly for all involved with all of them exiting Paradise. But we are left hanging on a cliff of Eliza chasing down Justin in his hometown of Baltimore[1].

Otherwise, everybody is happily encoupled, including Victoria who seemed to have no buyer’s remorse in picking Johnny and therefore, had no further drama with hunky Adam who is gone. Michael the Mayor of Paradise and Danielle get a 1-on-1 that strangely also involved Wells following them around for no reason. Does that make it a 1-on-1 plus 1? I continue to worry that the EGPs are setting us up for disappointment over these two.

And because everybody is happily encoupled, the EGPs had to send new girls to the beach to wreak havoc with happiness. That’s what we have to look forward to next week.

See you then.

P.S. This week’s viewing was done in Petaluma, CA and the wine was a delightful Sea Sun Chardonnay.

[1] Very disappointing not to get shots of any of the great live music venues where I have spent untold hours.
